piugoloso is born from the union of acacia honey and nuts, a typical pairing in Italian culinary tradition, which finds one of its highest expressions in nougat ‒ soft or crunchy.
The Mieli Thun recipe involves a careful selection of nuts, chosen and sorted manually to eliminate any imperfections. The nuts are then placed in jars and filled with acacia honey; the filling is done cold, to fully preserve the taste of the honey and the nuts. The classic composition of piugoloso includes hazelnuts, half walnut kernels, and whole peeled almonds.
